BREATHING PIECE (2018)

Why does a concert often evoke more emotions than a theatre performance? And can we achieve something similar within a theatrical format? Two performers, one conductor and no instruments. Using only their breath, the performers create a performative sound composition that researches the emotional connection between performer and spectator. Through the use of inhalation, exhalation, puffs and hisses, an intensely layered musical composition is created. With this 'physical score' a new form of emotional transfer is proposed on the threshold of musicality and theatricality. These two worlds - in their differences and similarities - entangle in one space, thereby attempting to reinforce each other's emotional pretensions towards the spectator/listener radically and innovatively.
